License Exemption

In terms of the Licence Application Rules in the Electricity Supply Industry, exemption made maybe with terms and conditions.

Department of Energy has been granted Electricity Access Pilot Projects exemption.

In terms of the licence application rules, the following maybe exempted:

a person who generates electricity which does not exceed two megawatts
a person who distributes electricity which does not exceed fifty kilowatts for domestic consumption
a person who, on-site, supplies electricity which he generates or is supplied to him by licensed supplier
a person who generates electricity and supplies it to one consumer who is in the same premises as the generating station
such other person as the Authority may exempt

About LEWA

Lesotho Electricity and Water Authority (LEWA) was established through the Lesotho Electricity Authority (LEA) Act. No. 12 of 2002 as amended. The Authority operates in line with the Government policy on electricity and water supply matters. LEWA is funded through License fees and customer levies.
